Alspach Gearhart Funeral Home
We met Andy Gearhart and Sean Sauer of Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home in Van Wert, Ohio, at NFDA in Nashville. They asked if we could help them update the facility. Rich in history, this Van Wert funeral home was showing its age. And while at one time, it was the front-runner and on the leading edge of design in the community – that time had come and gone without updates. So, we had a funeral home that was amazing in their service to the community – but that wasn’t reflected in the building itself. So, we removed some of the cedar planking and removed most the cedar color – swapped out the 1960’s post-modern stain glass and replaced the windows with industrial farmhouse. We finished the space with vibrant greens, neutrals, and charcoals, to create a relaxed, comfortable environment suited to today’s use inside the funeral home. We did not increase the size of the footprint of the space. However, by re-thinking the use of each room, in essence we gave Andy and Sean, a separate memorial / luncheon space capable of seating 125 people. All without changing the footprint. Thank you, gentlemen, for your keen sense of style and your desire to care for your facility and your community. It has been a pleasure!
