Myrhum Patten Funeral Home

I first met Mr. Matt Myrhum and Mr. Bob Patten, in 2011, to discuss a funeral home renovation. About 20% of the way into the planning, they surprised me by asking if I’d shift gears and tackle a second funeral home that they had just purchased. We did. It was great! Then a few months after that, we shifted to another couple funeral homes (recently purchased) and worked through design directions for each of those funeral homes. Then, once again, we shifted back to the original, flagship location in West Bend, WI. There was a fair amount of uncertainty about this location. As is the case sometimes, it is difficult for owners to “see” the diamond in the rough. The owners questioned the overall size of the building – maybe it isn’t large enough. They questioned the use of space – we’re not sure we can provide a decent luncheon area. And they questioned whether they should tear down and rebuild – or – allow someone to help them see the potential of the facility. Certainly, FFH design had an advantage having worked with Matt and Bob on several of their facilities. There was a trust established and they knew we would speak plainly about the potential of the West Bend location. It really was a diamond in the rough and we are pleased to have worked with Matt and Bob on the transformation of this space. Truly exciting – remarkable redo – great collaboration!
